I've rarely written fiction, and I've never written Beecher/Keller before. I wrote this in a burst of creativity that lasted about 2 minutes for the HT100 Challenge #122: Strange Days. The prompt was: Write about an Ozzie and a paranormal experience. So I did.

I copyedit my own stuff, so no beta but me.

All comments/suggestions/critiques welcomed.

Visitation

Tobias Beecher never believed in ghosts.

He dealt in the real world of lawsuits and the law. Facts were his stock in trade. The provable was what he was interested in, not the vague netherworld of strange mists, haunted houses and things that go bump in the night. Those were stories to tell his kids on Halloween or movies to watch on late-night TV when nothing else was on; movies like "Frankenstein" and "The Wolfman." (Beecher always chuckled to himself when he heard the name "Frankenstein" because to him, it sounded like it should be the name of a senior partner in the law firm Frankenstein, Wolfman and Dracula. "We specialize in unusual cases.")

Ghosts, ghouls, zombies and vampires didn't exist in Beecher's world. The first part of his life had been populated mainly by lawyers, judges, plaintiffs and defendants. The second half by prison guards, Aryans, prison officials and parole board members. No room for the fantastical or supernatural. His life was hard enough to believe, as is.

And then, in came Chris Keller.

Not the flesh-and-blood Chris Keller, who haunted his dreams, his heart and his pod when he was alive. The dead Chris Keller -- who committed suicide and tried to frame Beecher for his death in the hope that Beecher's demise would soon follow via the State giving Beecher the electric chair, thus reuniting the former lovers forever in the afterlife -- that Chris Keller was the one standing in the corner of Beecher's pod, big as life and twice as handsome, mouth wide in a feral smile and eyes gleaming with a light not quite of this world.
